Quest to win $10,000 for Make-A-Wish

Our location has been competing in the Business Journal's Social Media Contest for almost a month now.  We are in the final round for regionals and the next round puts competitors up against one another from the nation.  There will be 64 teams in total that make the National Round - and we plan on being one of them.

It hasn't been easy for us.  We had 3000 points taken away from us because the Business Journal felt that we had "bots" following us- which is against the rules, and as such, we had lost all of our points accumulated through our Twitter account.

This was a blow for us, as those points could of placed us among the average score of the 63 other teams.  Now, with this setback, we have to work even harder at getting people to "like" and "follow" us.  And your votes are appreciated too!

The winner of this competition will receive a $10,000 donation from the Business Journal in their name.  And we have decided that in the event that our company should win, we will be donating the money to the Make-A-Wish foundation in honor of Katie Snyir, who is 8 years old and is a Cancer survivor.

Katie was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, also known as ALL, on May 18, 2009.

After months of numerous treatments, procedures, and chemotherapy at Children’s Hospital of UPMC in Lawrenceville, Katie’s doctors determined that her cancer was more aggressive then what was first diagnosed. Their recommendation was for Katie to receive a bone marrow transplant, in which an exhaustive search for a match ended with Katie’s two-year-old brother, Jacob being a match. A hard decision for Katie and Jacob’s parents followed. On December 10, 2009, Katie received her brother’s bone marrow and while Jacob bounced back quickly, Katie still struggled.

Over a year later, Katie was declared Cancer Free.  (See pictures here)

And because of Make-A-Wish, Katie and her family got the chance to go to Walt Disney World at no expense to them.  And now, we would like to help pay Make-A-Wissh back for their generosity.
